Mat Schatkowsky is the head instructor of Core Conditioning. He is a certified personal trainer and martial arts instructor interested in helping clients improve their kinesthetic awareness, strength and endurance in a fun, challenging and supportive environment.
With a black belt in both judo and jukaijutsu jujutsu, Mat has over 10 years experience leading martial arts and fitness classes. Fitness and exercise have been an integral part of Mat’s training; he has the knowledge to work with you on a variety of aspects of fitness including balance, coordination, and functional use of your body. Mat has competed in martial arts competitions throughout the country, including the Canadian Judo National Championships on two occasions.
He is interested in hiking, kayaking, yoga, kettlebell training and most recently scuba diving. He looks forward to training with you to achieve your goals quickly and safely. Be warned: these workouts will leave you sweaty, exhausted and more confident in your own training!
We use kettlebells, resistance bands, slosh tubes, joint mobility and body weight exercises to help you build muscle, improve your cardio and coordination and leave you excited for the next class. Core Conditioning is a program that will give you what you put into it. “Homework” is issued weekly for an additional workout on the off-days.
